Re: Gun rights
As you know, recent tragic incidents have led to calls for bans of certain types of firearms or even for all firearms. Those of you who have followed my career know that I am an unflinching advocate of the principle that that the rights of all Americans to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. I am also an advocate of the principle that an armed populace is a guarantee of safety and law and order. I firmly believe that "good guys with guns" are the bedrock of civil tranquility.
To emphasize my support for these principles, I make the following pledge: anyone bearing arms, whether openly or concealed is now welcome to all of my public events: town halls, campaign speeches, prayer breakfasts, whatever might be. There will be no metal detectors, no x-rays, no frisking, and all security personnel will be specifically directed to allow everyone entering events to maintain possession of any types of firearms they see fit to bring in.
I'm looking forward to seeing you all at my events soon, and with everyone there armed, it'll be a sure thing that they will be safe, secure, and civil. Bring the kids!
