But for some reason, gun crazies think the 2nd amendment is the only absolute in the constitution.

We accept limitations on literally EVERY Constitutional Amendment, and even the gun nuts support those. But even suggest some slight limitations on the 2nd and they lose their minds.

Even Amendments you would think are cut and dried have been limited. When I was in law school, I did extensive research on the 13th Amendment. One would think that "no involuntary servitude" would be pretty iron-clad, but it's really not. I did a research project on the 13th Amendment as it pertains to the military draft. The Supreme Court actually ruled that the 13th Amendment doesn't apply to the draft because...........well, we NEED a draft. That was actually the Court's legal reasoning (in a ruling rendered back when the draft was still going in full force).

On an interesting side note, most people don't realize that the Constitution actually allows people to be drafted into the U.S. Postal Service, but it's a provision that's never been necessary.
