compromise.

the gun crazies want to hunt.

fine. we respect your right to hunt. personally, i don't eat meat, but i'm fine with people hunting.

the gun crazies want home protection.

fine. everyone can relate to this. you have a right to be secure in your home.

we want some way to reduce the number of dead children at our schools, as well as reduce the number of mass killing tragedies.

there are a brazillion different ways to accomplish this. that's right.
there are tons of ways to reduce these tragedies while still making it possible for people to hunt and for people to be secure in their homes.

why? because you don't *need* quick and easy access to rapid fire organ shredding military grade death machines capable of mowing down hundreds of people in a few minutes in order to either hunt a deer or protect your home.

there's *plenty* of room to compromise.

it's only people right-wingers unwilling to even consider compromise who think otherwise.

1. Never underestimate this point: it's not about the guns. It's about the fact that we

object to the guns.

If we came out and loudly protested against summer squash, we would be pulling summer squash from their cold dead hands.

There is no possibility the imbeciles will compromise. As with all other things, it's time to ignore them and work with those who will work with us without the drama. There are plenty of them.

There are many, many gun control measures that are supported by the vast majority of Americans, gun owning and non gun owning. It's time to stop giving the insanity a voice and to ignore it and move on.

3. exactly! we're never going to make headway with the extremists. we must marginalize them.

if we say we're eager to find a compromise that tackles the mass killing problem while still letting people hunt and protect their homes, then the extremists get pushed aside and we sit down and talk to more reasonable people.

reasonable hunters and people who want to protect their homes don't feel the need for instant access to the means to kill hundreds of kids in 10 minutes.
