Not to mention the simple fact that bank robbers, generally, do NOT walk into the bank with the intention of shooting anyone they see. Sort of defeats the purpose of having the bank give the bank robber money.

Banks generally have a fairly constrained space for bank customers and lots of cameras and, usually, at least one visibly armed guard.

Many banks now have their tellers (the teachers in the iDJTs analogy) behind bullet-proof plexiglass.
