I remember watching Carl Sagan, a renowned Jesuit priest or bishop or what have you (can't remember his name) and Neil Degrasse Tyson debate non-belief/religion/science and after the entire episode it boiled down to the first cause argument. None could prove exactly how that "bang" occurred. What that means is that all religious doctrine evaporated.
