Twitter suspends thousands of suspected bot accounts, and the pro-Trump crowd is furious

The social-media service Twitter is believed to have suspended thousands of accounts for being automated bots or for other policy violations, drawing outcry from fringe conservative media figures who lost followers in the move.

Many of these figures, such as pro-Trump host Bill Mitchell and white nationalist Richard Spencer, took to the service to complain about losing a small portion of their followers in the move. Other conservative accounts were suspended pending verification that they are run by people.

I woke up and saw I lost 100 or so followers. First time that's ever happened. Are Conservatives being targeted like the IRS @Twitter #TwitterLockOut #TwitterPurge

Twitter did not confirm the number of accounts that it suspended but released a statement saying that it was continuing to identify “suspicious account behaviors” that represented automated activity or other violations of its terms of service.

Many of us are susceptible to being conned at one time or another in our lives. The lonely and isolated simply do not want confirmation that are alone and that their views and opinions are completely separated from the mainstream. It is a pitiful sight to behold.

anyhow - Twitter's "fix" was to require these suspended accounts to manually log back into Twitter. It may take the Russians longer, but I'm sure they can make their worker bees at the troll farms work extra hours to manually log back into all those accounts.

Facebook created a committee to review fake news stories a few years ago in an effort to stop them from posting BS on Facebook. However, the RW made such a big stink about it that Facebook backed down and disbanded the committee.
