Donald Trump calls for teachers to be armed after Florida school shootingRhys Blakely, Washington

President Trump said teachers should be armed as he spoke to school shooting survivors and victims’ families in an emotionally charged meeting at the White House last night.
Andrew Pollack, whose daughter Meadow, 18, was one of 17 people killed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida last week, told Mr Trump: “We’re here because my daughter has no voice. She was murdered last week, shot nine times. How many schools, how many children have to get shot?” During the “listening session”, Mr Trump called for America to build more psychiatric institutions, promised that gun buyers would be vetted and suggested teachers carry guns.
“This would be obviously only for people who were very adept at handling a gun . . . it’s called concealed carry, where a teacher would have a concealed gun on them,” he explained. “They’d go for special training and you would no longer have a gun-free zone.”
