Huh? How many problems does *that* solve right there?
At least it would greatly decrease the number of memes from my oh-so-caring right wing Facebook friends.
Yes I'm being sarcastic
The solution to guns isn't more guns.
I'm a Vet who has worked with social workers and am keenly aware of the issues facing that community. As an aware citizen I also know that the number of Vets has increased dramatically over the last two decades and with it has brought to light problems that have faced Vets for a long time. Being a Vet didn't exclusively create these problems but it's reflective of the country as a whole.
The Facebook comment is meant towards all these memes I see from people wrapping themselves around Veterans sometimes in blanket (and accurate) statements about Vets but often with an unneeded negativity geared towards "illegals" or "food stamps" or any other thing they don't like paying for juxtaposed with the plight of Veterans.

(11,869 posts)Homeless vets? who are quite possibly homeless because they have PTSD or mental problems caused by their service to the nation.
Vets who have been trained in the theater of battle to shoot first and ask questions later.
Is it not problem enough that we have militarized our police forces with veterans first hiring policies that make our local police more apt to shoot first?
If you want ot help the homeless vets... then help them by actually... oh I don't know... getting them help. How about strengthening the VA and mental health services?
Inserting them into school situations where they are effectively a firewall is no help to them or to students and turns our schools into war zones.

(182,826 posts)that I was being sarcastic AND was not trying to minimize the troubles many Vets are having.
The receiver determines the success of the message so I didn't do a good job of hitting that goal.
