Puerto Rico has brought us new Dem voters.
My local Dem group seems to be revived and hopefully with more life than in 2016.
Why the insult? Many of us from Florida live here by choice and are truly tired of Florida-bashing. Does it really help us in any way?

I don't know a lot about them but they are solid candidates. It should be a lively primary.
Yeah, it is Florida and Rs get elected governor here. Unlike Massachusetts,Maryland and other blue states -- oh, wait.

defending NRA and their policy of selling guns to 12 years olds
destruction of social security and medicare
destruction of wetland and shore lines for profit.

(6,377 posts)Scott barely won in both 2010 and 2014, and both of those years were massive red wave years. With the political momentum going the other way, I have to imagine the Democratic Party has a good shot.

I love Florida (in fact headed there in a few weeks). However, I get so frustrated when it comes to politics. I also have issues with the gun laws (assault weapons, stand your ground, etc).

(54,405 posts)I heard this whole scenario once before. July, 2012, with the Obama election campaign. Strategy session with the two Davids (Simas and Axelrod). Simas said the polls would get worse until around Labor Day, but he wold pull out his hair, so the rest f us wouldn't have to. Lo and behold, he was right, but we don't have those guys now, and it isn't a national campaign, but scads of regional ones.
Each election will have its own local rules (Tip O'Neill was SO right), and we need LOTS of people on the ground, and we need them from now until November. There will be plenty of time for burnout afterwards, but until then, we can't afford it, where the Republicans can.

(43,182 posts)The legislature is in bad shape thanks to gerrymandering.
However, statewide offices stand a better chance. We do have one Democratic Senator. We voted for Barack Obama twice and were only a little over 100,000 votes short of voting for Hillary Clinton. And then you have 2000.
So yes, we have a shot. Graham, Gillum and Levine are all good candidates. I didn't trust John Morgan but he's no longer a candidate.
