The psychology of a Trump supporter

http://theauthoritarians.org/Downloads/TheAuthoritarians.pdf

Before reading my deranged ranting, you might want to have a look at the above. It's a bit old, around the time of Dubya's administration but eerily predicts the continued rise of authoritarianism, religious extremism, hardcore fundamentalism, racism and the popularity of a man like Donald Trump.

Trump supporters are afraid, live in constant fear of themselves and everybody and everything around them. This is the driving force behind their racism, xenophobia, homophobia and general fear and distrust of "the other" causing them to cling to and identity with their tribe - cisgender white evangelical "Christians". Hence they isolate themselves in a bubble, an echo chamber reinforced by fundamentalist screamer preachers, religious schools, hate radio and Fox News.

Hence, they do not have the experience of meeting people from other cultures, ethnicities and sexual orientations. These are the kind of experiences that most people would have by attending cultural events, getting information from a wide variety of sources, and attending secular institutions of higher education allowing them the opportunity of changing their world view.

They do not value thinking. Many are of a psychological type that values feeling over thinking. Their homophobia and racism is based in a fear of dirt. Who can think when overwhelmed with ick. What they call "thinking" is a mishmash of slogans, bumper stickers and logical fallacies. They are terrified of critical thinking, considering it the Devil's work because it is such an effective tool for opposing practically everything they believe in. One state's Republican Party platform includes a plank to ban its use in schools.

They place little value in actual, factual truth. They place their trust in story and myth. One favourite is the flawed man empowered by God to do great things, such as pussy grabbing, teenager molesting, thrice married Trump rising to power to place "pro-life" judges in power. They are masters of reframing - they would accept with a straight face and with no compunction calling a Bill that deregulates polluting industries a "Clean Air Act".

Finally, and scariest of all, they do not value reality itself. They are far more concerned about the afterlife, heaven or hell. They engage in a process called imminentizing the Eschaton, bringing on the Rapture. If Trump will do this by blowing us all to Kingdom Come (literally), so be it.

25 years ago that's all they talked about and they considered the Rapture to be imminent. Now it's all about Christian Reconsruction or Dominion theology (also known as dominionism) a group of Christian political ideologies that seek to institute a nation governed by Christians based on their personal understandings of biblical law. People like Putin and others realize the easiest way to control the masses is through religion. Putin is now the new hero of the Religous Right.

but it isn't just about controlling people with religion, many truly believe that the rich are God's chosen, it's why He made them rich. The poor have done something evil to become poor and lost favor with God.

Even the Mormons and the reemergence of Mitt Romney have a similar belief. Mitt believed he was destined to be president because of the White Horse Prophesy.

But certainly your main point is front and foremost, they use religion to control people. I read an article about Trump being the White Jesus which is the complete opposite of the real Jesus. Trump, because he is rich and famous was looked upon favorably by God and therefore his sins are to be overlooked, as well as the sins of his followers. Scary shit.

With both the article and the description.

But it is all true. Domination is what they crave. And right now they are winning.

I am sick to think our ountry has fallen this low. It has been a long time coming. Dating back to when we voted for a Celebrity. A B Actor Movie Star who played his part very well.

Then we tried change, but Republicans used every dirty trick in the book to get rid of Clinton.

They found his weakness in his sex life.

Then the Rehnquist Republican Court made a decision so bad they inserted the clause it was a one time thing.

We elected Obama, the attacks never ceased by the crooked Republican Congress, aided and abetted by false Preachers And Evangelicals. They were willing to accept a corrupt thrice married thug because they accepted his lies.

I heard an Evangelical say the other day that you are forgiven for past sins. My Bible says, ”Go and sin no more!” Not keep on doing the same thing over and over!

I wish I could vote for him. I watched his show religiously on msnbc. He told it like it was. He explained crony capitalism. He was passionate.

It goes to show everyone the big lie that is out there that the M$M is liberal. The supposed most liberal network canned Dylan. Remember who also they canned; Olbermann, Brashear, Harris/Perry, Uygur, for the elderly, Phil Donahue.

Dylan and the others went beyond the allowed narrative.

But Dylan quit because he was fed up. Started something where they raised Hydrophonics.
I just happened to catch him saying what he was doing. Otherwise I would not have known.

Dylan appeared on MSNBC the other day. I hoped he was coming back, but then found this.

He is sick of the corruption in Congress.

If you see any more please post.

I would add that they LIKE the feeling of fear. We think it's a bad thing - they think it's being "serious" and "realistic".
They don't like "fun" in the same way we do - they think that's being lazy and weak.

They fundamentally do not feel connected to other people or the planet -which is why they treat people and the planet like garbage.

For their own failures. They have to blame some one else.

I am reminded of Geraldine,” The devil made me do it!” In that High pitched voice.,

They're the ones always saying it's everyone's fault that they don't "pull themselves up by their bootstraps".

Which is another example of them not being connected to people or the planet - they have a stunted idea of what it means to be alive. They are the spiritual example of the "fall" believing themselves to be the only thing that matters.

Try to pass that blame on to those who need a hand up, not a lifetime hand out.

That is all most people need when they have a setback. How many of Us here have lived a charmed life? I haven’t, and give credit for those who gave me a hand up.

Granted,I never accepted programs or charity, took one step at a time to move on.

But I never resent those less fortunate.

Our city rehabbed buildings to house the homeless, helped them get jobs and back on their feet, that is all most people want.

Sheer greed and hate does not work for me. That is why I am a Democrat.
