... Fred Guttenberg's 14-year-old daughter .. was killed .. February 14 .. in Parkland ...
"My daughter was hunted last week," Guttenberg said on CNN. "She wasn't just a simple little thing. She was massacred. My daughter, who was the energy in the room. She brought beauty and joy to everyone she was around."
"I am enraged to hear our politicians, including in that little circular sit-down session in the president's office today not be able to use the phrase that guns are a problem," Guttenberg continued. "I am enraged. I want to hear our elected officials, I want them to look me in the eye and acknowledge the role that guns played in the hunting of my daughter" ...
"I want to hear real solutions, but you can't talk about real solutions until you can actually say what the problem is. And the problem is guns. And I don't diminish anything else with regard to mental health, or all the other factors because they're all critically important. But guns are the issue" ...

(24,574 posts)on my bed unwilling and unable to deal with anything beyond the overwhelming grief. I admire them greatly for having the strength and presence of mind to go out and confront the people who should be doing something to stop the carnage, especially of our children. What kind of people are we to allow a vile organization like the NRA control our elected officials?

(51,608 posts)as a teacher, activist and citizen. I thanked them, appreciated them and encouraged them to keep doing what older adults haven't been able to accomplish on this issue so far.
Here is a lot of info that we older adults can use to end gun violence through legislation and how we can support them at planned Nationwide walkouts for everyone (students, parents, educators, community members and local govt officials). The number of events has tripled since Fri. #ENOUGH

(2,648 posts)a joke perpetrated on the public by the orange shitgibbon who sat there wondering when all the complaining would stop so that he can get back out on the golf course.
He had no interest whatsoever in the plight of the folks who were there asking for something to be done about the gun issue. He didn't care. Period!
He and the rest of the republican congressvermin are in the pocket of the NRA and will never leave it.

Arming Teachers! I am sure their Education taught them to use a gun!

(17,985 posts)Was an insult to those grieving students and families.
Having an NRA spokesman on to simply blame mental illness, not the fact the killer had 8 guns that the family knew nothing about! Spare me that one!
They have now filed for custody of his $800,000 Dollar inheritance.
Makes me sick to my stomach.
Bless that Father!
