I'm sure those traumatized students will feel better surrounded by more guns.

So , what would this rifle do? He didn't really have to aim, you do. Wouldn't a 9 mm be a smarter choice. Don't forget in Florida, sheriff's are elected. Might need someone who thinks outside of the box. This one doesn't seem like he can fix a complicated problem but with a silly non answerable solution.

(9,291 posts)but in a hallway full of students? No, and cops are trained for center mass and to not make the shot if it doesn't down the threat. Having a AK's in the trunk of your patrol car, wouldn't have helped. In Florida, most cops have a shotgun behind them hanging on to the cage. Depending on the call, they know what to reach for. Ambushes, well they work cause you were ambushed.
See lots of phony 911 calls, ambushed and dead cops. Or a student entering a school. These were ambushed calls, humans normally can't react fast enough, irregardless of the weapon.
Almost happened to my husband and I years ago. Both of us sitting in our living room watch Letterman, kids in bed. Me in the rocker, him next to me on the sofa. Someone tried to kick in our front door, if they were successful then we were dead to rights. No way we could have moved to get out of home intruders range of vision. Thankfully our door held, and to this day we purchase the best doors on the market. We might be here because of that choice.
