if more security is the answer. tax guns and ammunition sales to pay for the security

there are 100,000 schools in the USA.
lets say each school needs at least two security officers but maybe more if there are additional buildings...
For argumentestimate the annual salary for each security officer is 50K.

So the tax needs to cover 100K per school for 100K schools.
This is a recurring expense each year.

So gun sales will need to generate $10,000,000,000+ in tax revenues.
So lets start with $1000 tax per new gun sale to cover security est.10 millions guns sold per year.
Since old guns are also part of the problem causing the need for more security, let's tax ammunition also.
Tax ammo at 100% tax rate and use that to help cover medical costs for those injured by guns.

you must be prepared to pay the price. If that is a 100% tax - so be it. Maybe automatic weapons and multiple bullet clips should even be taxed higher - 200%.

Affordability might prevent a lot of people from being able to want such a gun. And those that go and buy automatic weapons and multiple bullet clips - would stand out and could be more easily flagged and put on notice.

Maybe - those weapons that are used for hunting or basic protection - shouldn't be taxed as steeply. That might force the market to - what some consider - safer weapons instead of the war-like weapons only designed for killing.

One other thing - every gun owner should be forced to carry gun insurance. I have to have my car registered when I purchase it. I have to have a license to drive a car. I have to buy license plates and vehicle stickers. I have to carry auto accident insurance. Why shouldn't the same be required of gun owners?
