What Are Those In Congress That Take NRA Money Afraid Of If They.....

speak about gun reform and counter to the NRA?

Is it only that the money will stop? Is it that the NRA will primary them out of a job?

Or is it more sinister than that? Could the NRA threaten their lives or their families lives?
I hate to think that - but the other two possibilities don't seem that scary.

An incumbent can always get money from other groups to make up the difference and still get re-elected. If the worse that can happen is that they will be out of a job in Congress - they still have clout to get another job and maybe even a higher paying one.

I can't believe that all these elected Congressmen and Senators actually believe what they are saying when they have to be pro-gun. They're human beings. They have families, friends, neighbors that could be killed by a gun. How could they not support some kind of gun reform? How could they not come out against the NRA's outrageousness?

So my only conclusion is that somehow these Congressmen and Senators are being threatened or their families are being threatened.

Any thoughts on this?

1. I doubt that. I think they are terrified of a primary challenge. Many of those districts are...

really really red and a primary is often death to an incumbent. Expensive, too.

Most places, it's a lot easier to play along with them than fight.

So they get primaried and they lose their job in Congress. Big deal. I believe they still maintain their perks of retirement money and health care. What's the worse that can happen to them if they lose their job? Most would qualify for a talking head on one of the cable networks. They can write a book about their experiences. They still are called Senator or Congressman. They become elder statesmen. They have all sorts of opportunities that us common folk don't. It's not the end of the world for them if they lose their seat. So again - why would they sell out their principles?

2. To support reform , would mean disavowing the propaganda they have been spewing.

A lot of these pols are afraid to hold townhall meetings. They have no courage. No one needs to threaten their lives. They're cowards all on their own.

4. They Have Been Spewing This Propaganda Because Of The NRA's Hold On Them.....

They would no longer have to defend the indefensible. They could be their own man or woman. I have to believe that there is something more sinister that is scaring them.

Am I the only one that thinks that their lives might be threatened? Is is so far-fetched a possibility?

Just look at these people - when asked about guns - how they cower and avoid the questions or wiggle out of them. Some of them you can actually see the color leave their faces - they seem so afraid that they'll say the wrong thing. They change the subject or spout talking points given to them from the NRA or the Repug Party.

Is their damned job that important to them?

Or is is about the money? Do they see a way that they can become rich by supporting the NRA? And I don't mean only campaign contributions. Is something else going on under the table?

5. Maybe they're just afraid of confronting their moral bankruptcy. Immorality is easier to excuse when practiced in numbers.

I know the NRA is guilty of funneling Russian money to the Trump campaign and Congressional republicans. So do they threaten to kill all of them ? That's a lotta assassinations. Even accidental deaths are investigated. They're probably more afraid of prison. So yeah, blackmail is possibleand I do believe a wholr hell of a lot of them have been compromised by russian money and are looking at prison. I just don't know if stopping gun control reform is that big a deal for the russians. The 2nd amendment right to bear arms is here to stay , so guns will not be leaving civilain hands. The gun sales won't stop .

Could the NRA leadership be behind a blackmail attempt ? I dont know, but they should be more concerned about going to prison than anything else. If I were in their shoes, I'd only be thinking about meeting Director Muellar in the hopes of cutting a deal.
