"Next year I'll be able to vote"

Jedediah Grady from Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Spring, Maryland: “I understand marching isn’t automatically going to change legislation...but it’s not just about change. Next year I’ll be able to vote.”

Keep it up, repugs.

These new voters are going to help us get "agent orange" eradicated.

Last time it was so critical was when young people first got the vote, in the Viet Nam era.

15. My very intelligent and high achieving kids got turned off by DU

because some here love the opportunity to post negative articles and comments about millennials. There seems to be a prevailing negative view here about this age group.

Many times, I have implored those here to consider what a turn off this view is to this age group and to consider creating a more welcome space for them, but I was flamed, my parenting was attacked and my kids were called snowflakes.

Because I prefer to remain anonymous, I won't share all that my kids have accomplished, but it is laughable that any of them are "snowflakes". I shared my first hand experience of how this site was a turn off to them....and why....hoping it might be instructive.

If we work together to attract this age-group, they will come.

I have found I LOVE working with Millennials - I learn so much from them, and I consider it a great compliment when they come to ME for advice (often about working with another oldster LOL).

I also will NOT let my peers act like the young folk don't have hard times- I remember when I was young it was like YES DAD I know you survived the Depression and YES MUM I know you survived WWII bombing - but that didn't mean I did not experience any PROBLEMS!

. that this is what it takes to get the youth out to vote. Voter turnout in our town is usually around 25% for local elections and 35% for federal elections. Pathetic. We're always scratching our heads at what issues can we get on the ballot that will motivate the 18-25 year olds. Up to now, legalizing marijuana was it. 55% turnout when legalizing pot was on our local ballot. No idea what the percentage of the under-25 vote that included, but I have a feeling they participated in droves.

hardly any of my friends showed up to vote for mid-terms. I don't know the answer besides telling them that the people we elect to the House and Senate nationally and locally actually make the laws and they're just as important , if not more than the President.

We should see an increase in the activism of the young, especially if they have success at getting either laws changed or lawmakers ousted.

There is a good chance that they will take the tools they are learning to use now and make changes to our country going forward.
