* Quinnipiac University Poll - Trump Approval Dips Back Below 40 Percent . 57% Say Unfit To Serve *

With tax season under way, American voters say 67 - 24 percent that President Donald Trump should publicly release his tax returns, according to a Quinnipiac University National Poll released today. Every listed party, gender, education, age and racial group, except Republicans, says Trump should release his tax returns.

President Trump has not released his tax returns because he has something to hide, 52 percent of voters tell the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University Poll. Another 19 percent say it's because he is being audited by the IRS and 14 percent don't believe either reason.

American voters give Trump a negative 37 - 58 percent approval rating, compared to a 40 - 55 percent rating February 7, in the wake of his State of the Union address. Republicans and white men are the only groups who approve. White voters with no college degree are divided at 47 percent approve and 45 percent disapprove.

Trump has not been loyal to his spouse throughout his marriage, American voters say 56 - 18 percent, with 26 percent undecided. Republicans are the only group to say Trump has been loyal.

Voters also say 66 - 30 percent, including 58 - 37 percent among men, that Trump does not respect women as much as he respects men. Again, Republicans are the only group taking Trump's side.

"For President Donald Trump, deemed by American voters as perhaps dodging his taxes, disrespectful to women and disloyal to his wife, and pursued by the porn star and the Playboy playmate scandals, the post State of the Union bump goes flat," said Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll.

American voters say 57 - 41 percent that Trump is not fit to serve as president. There is a wide gender gap, with men divided 49 - 49 percent on whether Trump is fit. Women say 65 - 33 percent he is not fit.
