To our valued, heavily armed members:
We have noted, following the recent deplorable and unfortunate school shooting in Florida, that a difficult-to-manage situation has arisen. That shooting took place at a high school, and it is clear now that high school students are old enough to speak clearly about firearms violence and to demand, wrongly of course, that more firearms controls are needed. This poses serious risks to the sacred and holy nature of the 2nd Amendment.
In light of this unfortunate vocal protest by older children, who appear able to speak for themselves, we recommend that further school shootings, should they unfortunately take place, not focus on high schools. Instead, if such shootings, which are very, very deplorable, indeed, are contemplated, they should be confined to schools in the lower grades.
Of course, the NRA deplores any use of firearms for violent attacks on people, but we are clearly observing an unsettling trend with regard to shootings at high schools. Surviving students at such schools are very likely to gain media publicity and create an atmosphere that is not good for the firearms-owning community.
Please keep these things in mind as you go forward.

(17,863 posts)soon to go in front of microphones. The oldest in the school are now 9th graders. I very well see them joining with the survivors of Parkland. A joint narrative that includes the "empathy" demonstrated by even denying that the horrific events even occurred.
