Caretaker Of Parkland Shooter Filed Petition For Control Of His $800K Inheritance

(Not sure what sort of source 'The Inquisitor' is, but I've seen this reported by several media outlets.)

Caretaker Of Parkland Shooter Filed Petition For Control Of His $800K Inheritance The Day After Massacre

The Florida woman who cared for Parkland shooter Nikolas Cruz after his mother died wants control of the murderer’s $800,000 inheritance. Roxanne (also written as Rocxanne in news reports) Deschamps is seeking control of Nikolas’s inheritance, which she filed a petition for on February 15, the day after the massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School that claimed 17 lives.

Nikolas and his brother Zachary Cruz went to live with Roxanne after their mother, Lynda Cruz, died of pneumonia last November, reports the New York Post. The boys’ father is also deceased.

Nikolas and Roxanne got into an argument over his possession of a gun and she told him he would need to leave her home if he felt the need to keep the gun. He did and went to live with James and Kimberly Snead. His brother would stay with Roxanne and is currently still under her care.

Roxanne’s motion is to gain control over the estate in its entirety, which would also mean she would be responsible for settling any debts in addition to receiving the $800,000 that she would then control.

pretty fast. What's left will go for judgements against him.

I wonder if the brother will get anything? If it was in a pool then the pool might get drained. Speaks to a 50/50 split immediately at death into individual trusts.

The trust that was set up by my parents specified that the money was to be divided equally between their surviving children.

Looks like the shooter can afford a lawyer....

That said...the family that took him in...they may very well be Grifters at heart.

He supposedly was kicked out because of the guns. If so she might be a more reasonable person to look after the affairs of the younger brother who is still in her care. Obviously the court should watch it closely.

The older brother is an adult so he needs to manage his affairs for himself. I got to think defense attorneys are lining up to represent him. Not your usual mass shooter client - he can actually pay for his defense.

with a homemaker spouse for the last 25 years (before that she made minimum wage and was never full time). If we die today, then my two daughters who are only a few years older than these two, would split about $1.7M between life insurance, 401k, and other assets.

My dad was a teacher/administrator and my mom was a stay at home mother, so they were solidly middle of the middle class. They still managed to save and make some wise investments and were able to set up a modest but comfortable trust fund for us.
