Last night I was reading through some of their sites. It started on Facebook and I delved into what is usually weirdo land but not this unhinged.
It culminated this morning when I read a post from someone with whom I served in the Army.
This is about one of the Parkland kids who has become THE main target in bizarro land.
He is NOT a student! He is 26 years old and is a paid crisis actor. News organizations hire him to be a scripted witness or survivor. He has been at multiple shootings as a 'survivor'. He is also a meth user recently arrested in South Carolina.

(10,156 posts)They'll stoop to any low they can. These people are freaking insane...not like the fun conspiracies back in the 90's with Area 51, Bigfoot, Art Bell...nothing like that now.
They've become so unplugged from reality that everything is questioned. Thanks Alex Jones and the fuckshits of the right for that.
But they are super desperate and they are scared of these kids and what they are capable of. Nothing is stopping this, not this time. The bar has been reached.

(49,002 posts)That would be Mike Pence who used about $250,000 of public funds, when all accounted for, to go to a football game and leave after the National Anthem as a protest against a protest by players.
It was planned so that he had just enough time to do that on his way out to a fundraiser in Nevada. His people told the press to stay in the van or bus because he wouldn't be at the game long.

(58,785 posts)underestimating their ability to change what they believe. though. If they had better leaders who told them to think differently, they would. (Not too much too fast, or they'd reject the leaders.)
What I can't imagine being so changeable is the enmity that's been crafted in minds vulnerable to it against Democrats/liberals through massive villification and demonizing. Their fears and hates tend to dominate conservative reactions.
However, Russians were once the big enemy who must be defeated. They only shifted to looking inward for a new existential threat with the end of the cold war. So, if the right eventually refocuses their fears on an external threat, perhaps we may see some stand down of hostilities internally.
Of course their handlers know this. They're working hard to maintain the division they created so we can't unite to get control of our nation. My question is how long the more sensible conservatives will take to reject Putin and the massive corruption Russia is exporting here.

(182,826 posts)What I posted in the OP was this guy's summary of all the crap he was posting throughout the night. They have a mugshot that looks as much like the Parkland kid (David Hogg) as much as I look like Robert Redford. They bought it though. Literally pouring alcohol down their own throats now and their sources slowly release more every hour or so.

(58,785 posts)background checks, though, same as 97% of all American polled. When do we get 97% agreement on any issue?! This is amazing.
And it means that nearly as many of those hearing about attacks on the students by the likes of this guy, Donald Junior and Dinesh D'Souza are not with them on the guns issue, even if they believe evil conspiracies. (Speaking of, the Russians reportedly are pouring major pro-gun anti-student alcohol on this fire.)
Will this open more eyes?

(58,785 posts)Patrick. We can't vote by clicking our choice on each issue, or we'd see what you're calling for. Unfortunately, we can only make blanket votes for a goulash of issues of various importance to us by voting for representatives, with control shifted to those representatives and party.
But this massive electoral coming together on an issue at any other time would force immediate change supported by both parties. Before the Republican Party was taken over by its donor classes.
PatrickforO
(14,576 posts)on even discussing background checks keep getting elected...
Hence my point.
Over 50% of us want single payer healthcare, too. We don't have that either because of corporate capitalist corruption.
Hortensis
(58,785 posts)knowledgeably and responsibly. Corruption is real, but big only because WE've been failing to control it. We are 225,000,000 eligible voters, and we have something like 500-600 billionaires and 15-16,000 centimillionaires, only a minority of those anti-government/anti-regulation/anti-democracy to an evil, dangerous degree.
Virtually all political power comes from the electorate. Why else would those "corrupt corporatist" hot shots bother to even give us a "drop dead" in passing? Our politicians must have our support to get elected, so how the hell can they serve anyone but us if we don't let them?
The 40% of the electorate who didn't vote at all in 2016 don't realize that not voting just means their citizen power is not directed by them. Our power as members of the electorate is a real, living thing that, directly or indirectly, always ends up in the hands of various elected officials. The vote allows us to try to direct it to those representatives who most share our goals and values.
And then there are all those, left and right, who voted very badly; different people for various reasons, but all making horrible mistakes that put dangerous, destructive people in power.
For anyone on the left who made an effort to honestly educate (both key words) himself, the choice was as clear as it ever could be, literally coming down to a choice between A or B, between good or evil, between will of a majority of Americans or the will of the wealthy, yet too many were not up to it.
Not incidentally, "corporate," "capitalist," and "corruption" mean real things, of course, but for some they have also become emotional words that activate gut-level reactions, bypassing intellectual analysis. They were all intensively used by Russia and "corporatist" powers in 2016 as agitprop tools to steer opinion, pretty much like rings in the noses of cows, but attached at the navel instead.
Doubt it? Choose any name at random, "Harry Clancy," and the put those words in front of it and see what you think of poor imaginary Harry.

(19,991 posts)CNN interviewed a somewhat haggard older woman who had posted a lot of stuff on Facebook during the election campaign that has since been discovered to have come from a Russian troll farm. She refused to believe the CNN reporter who told her what it was, calling it bullshit and calling him fake news to his face.
I have a cousin who pushed the NRA's line on Facebook by likening a mass shooting to a car wreck, noting the problem is the driver and not the car. Another cousin chimed in that traffic laws didn't stop the car wreck from happening so...(presumably gun laws won't stop mass shootings either).
It's getting weird out there.

(182,826 posts)The context for this joke (I think) is that David Hogg was on a news report from California last summer. Vacationing and cross country travel didn't resonate enough for these people to see they were being duped.
Yes they were THIS close if you don't think about it.
His lifetime of training to be the lead crisis actor in a staged event in an affluent liberal area of Florida complete with helicopters, first responders, video and audio (not posting that it's horrible) recordings from inside this staged event all went up in smoke because websites defined by their crazed, often racist, cockamamie conspiracy theories for their gullible followers happened to find the THE lead crisis actor who had allowed himself to appear on camera in the second largest city in the country while ostensibly being on vacation ....or something.
Damn, this close. Who would have ever thought a bunch of conmen posing as news operations would have uncovered this in the digital age we live in?

(652 posts)My neighbor has an arsenal of guns. He target shoots outside when it's warmish, and through his open windows when it is too cold.
He needs these guns to protect him from burglars (in 72 years, none have showed up), and to kill people who try to steal his food and supplies (especially his guns and ammo) when the liberals ruin the country and leave everyone starving.
His arsenal includes automatic weapons -- at least it sounds like a war zone out there when he and his friends target shoot.
He loves Trump. He worships at the altar of the NRA.
I'd like to know how anyone could think these conspiracy theorists could possibly be anything but delusional. These beliefs are not the products of a stable minds.
The only good thing is he has stopped sending me emails about these conspiracies -- which are designed to whip crazy gun owners (not all are crazy of course) into a frenzy. He stopped because he thinks I am the crazy one because I didn't drink the Kool-Aid.

http://fox43.com/2018/02/19/florida-man-arrested-for-allegedly-turning-his-apartment-into-indoor-shooting-range/
CAPE CORAL, Fla. A Florida man was arrested Sunday after allegedly trying to turn his Cape Coral apartment into an indoor shooting range, according to the Cape Coral Police Department.
Ivan Bakh, 61, was charged when his neighbors called police to report that they were awakened by a loud bang and found a large hole in the headboard of their beds, just over their heads.
A second hole was discovered in the dresser mirror at the foot of the victims bed, police say. Further investigation from the victims uncovered another hole in the adjacent living room (on the other side of the wall from the dresser mirror) and a fourth hole in the living rooms far wall.

Not only was this kid an FBI plant who is a paid crisis actor, but he's the son of a retired FBI agent (this part is true, and they only know this because the kid said as much in many interviews--he's not trying to hide it), and now for some reason, his retired FBI agent father is a BILLIONAIRE who's funding these kids (because how could teenage kids ever be smart enough to organize a protest?)
