(102,292 posts)I presume that you relayed the statement of someone else from "the Chew"... I wasn't referencing YOU as a 3 yo, but the person who you had seen make the statement on the chew.
Heavens!

(29,205 posts)and accidentally watched this drek... OMG is this what much of America watches? there was so much crosstalk and idiotic commentary even in the "let's cook this" segment that wanted earplugs and a blindfold.

(6,399 posts)Particularly if you're looking for anything meaningful in something. But it is a fun show - more so since Batali left after the accusations came out - and the three that are there are pretty good friends and it's basically an hour of just talking about a lot of different things over food.
It's like a palate cleanser, light and harmless, after watching more serious stuff - hence it being on after the news. I've seen enough of it over the last few years as my 70's aged mother watches it after catching up on CNN and local news.
And let's be honest, it's NOT what much of America watches. As a daytime show it pulls in about 2.7 million viewers daily in a country of 330+ million people.
I really just dislike when people go on the attack over stuff that's simply not for them. I have no interest in basketball but I wouldn't go around calling it drek. Same for romance novels, geology lectures, and a whole host of other things. It's simply not for me and a lot of it would bore me to tears if I had to sit through.

Mostly it sounds like they're just doing a west half/east half of the country kind of thing but there's no easy way to say that, and it gets in the moment as east coast/west coast. And sometimes while "in the moment" you say things that aren't factually accurate. You know, like Obama and the 51 states or whatever he said. I've done a ton of public speaking myself and have had that happen multiple times as you get into a rhythm.
Mountains out of molehills. Easier to attack than to look at the positive that comes from things. Such is the toxic nature of America, left or right.
