Local businesses host fundraisers, blood drives for Parkland victims

Across Palm Beach County, people are doing what they can to help the Parkland Shooting victims whether it’s by donating to the GoFundMe page, which already raised $1.7 million, or donating blood.

Now, local businesses are getting involved, too.

Last week, Premier Family Health and Wellness in Wellington held a blood drive where more than 100 people showed up and 88 pints of blood were collected. Staffers at the practice had ties to the school, but even for businesses that don’t, they feel it’s time to get involved.

“It really hit home to a lot of us,” said Joe Ardagna, owner of Slash Fitness. “At Slash, we make it a priority to give back to the community. We pick a new charity each month. For us, it’s not just about the fitness; it’s also about our community and helping others.”

It's not just Oprah and George Clooney who are donating and raising money. It is happening on the local, national, and even international level.
