Possible student shooter arrested in Maryland.

Police in Maryland found an AR-15 styled rifle, a shotgun, two handguns, ammunition and a tactical vest in the home of an 18-year-old honor roll student who police say last week brought a loaded 9mm handgun to school, authorities said Tuesday.

Officers also discovered that the suspect — Alwin Chen, a student at Clarksburg High School in Montgomery County — had previously brought the same handgun to school and had compiled a “list of grievances against students in the school,” Montgomery Assistant State’s Attorney Frank Lazzaro said.

He termed the list “possibly a motive for why he was going to use the gun.”

Given the weapons at his Germantown home, the accusation that he has brought a gun to school at least twice, and the alleged grievance list, Montgomery District Judge John C. Moffett said Chen “presents a serious danger to the community.”
He ordered Chen to be held in jail without an opportunity to post bond.

... I’d be more than a little pissed. How in the Hell does he get a second chance - especially given the other facts present. Wow. Beyond incompetent.

Unfortunately given how the laws are written, I don't think he will stay in jail long. If he owns these weapons le galy and has not committed a crime (yet) , then I am not sure how they could keep him jailed.

law or "red flag" law. I don't know how many states or communities have such a law but if a person is deemed a threat to him/herself and/or others, a person can go to a judge and get a temporary restraining order to confiscate the guns. This sounds like a law that fits this teenager.

But have learned to never under-estimate the imaginations of those who are determined to to do violence.
Which explains why so many people on parole still manage to find a gun they are not supposed to have,
and some angry spouse is not gonna worry about it, they violate restraining orders all the time.

The only hopeful outcome in this kid's case is that he can be ordered to mandatory therapy AND that it works.
