(53,342 posts)Once you get to those well-to-do areas or more rural areas it gets much more Republican.
Liberal concentration is more in the Louisville urban areas, as expected (clifton, highlands, minority areas downtown, st matthews)
EDIT: see post 14. This is older established areas that are largely blue collar

(24,330 posts)It's why get out the vote is so important
Also, if it's multiple elections in the same area, do what the x-tian reich does, run a slate of candidates

(14,532 posts)In 2012 Belcher ran for re-election and lost
In 2014 Belcher ran again and won
In 2016 Belcher ran again and lost to Dan Johnson, who committed suicide last Dec. Leaving the seat open
Today Belcher won. The question is will she hold onto the seat in Nov?

(13,783 posts)Do you have info about the percentages of those races?

(25,375 posts)He was a pastor who molested teens in his house.
His wife ran to replace him, which is just gross. She was probably complicit.
This is one of those races that is hard to pin down. Belcher was in that seat for quite awhile, then Johnson won in 2010 with the Tea Party sweep.

(1,817 posts)After they pretty much telling high school kids around the country they dont care if they are gunned down while attending school?
I think republicans are going to lose a generation of voters over this.

(82,849 posts)Say whatever you want, low turnout, flawed candidate, blue collar district, I don't care. An 86 point swing in 14 months is fuckin' epic. Any Republican who feels safe isn't running in 2018.

Yes we can!
By the way, my opponent was a no show in a FL House vote today that denied a proposed assault weapons ban to move out of committee to face debate on the full house floor - in front of a bus load of students from Parkland. Shut down even talking about it!

(25,375 posts)That pedophile's wife ran in his place. And I'm sure she was complicit in some of it.
So, this isn't a big victory.

(24,653 posts)It's definitely not as miraculous as headlines would lead us to believe.
I see the victory in the turnout numbers. That is what we should focus on. Voter registration, vote by mail, voter turnout. We can do it if we nail the ground game. That's what all these Democratic victories are confirming again and again and again. Effective and efficient targeting does make a difference.

(25,375 posts)It had unique circumstances that makes it different from other elections.
But I agree with you on everything else!

(24,653 posts)I wish more people read the stories on the race closer. She took back a seat she lost by a slim margin.
