Lenoir City High School students walk out to discuss fears about school shootings, security concerns

After a shooting claimed 17 lives at a Florida high school last week, students at Lenoir City High School walked out of class Tuesday morning to honor the victims and say they fear their school could be next.

Initially, the walkout was to be 17 minutes — one minute for each student killed in the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.

Instead, it turned into an all-morning discussion, with about 100 of the school's 1,165 students gathering around the flagpole outside to participate in a "student-led conversation,"
said Assistant Principal Gregory Boling.

Most of the students returned to class after being told they would be marked absent, but a group of about a dozen remained outside until the end of the school day. - Knox News (Knoxville, TN)

Watching the shock and awe today from Tallahassee as the conservative controlled body voted against a ban on an assault weapons bill toady 36-71. Some of the students were present. It was heartbreaking.

Conservatives could give a shit if someone eles's child dies, so long as they can consume caviar and champagne, that's all that matters. The NRA is prepared to deliver.
