These kids have an advantage

The Sandy Hook survivors were really in no position to speak for themselves.
The Vegas survivors, as well as the Pulse survivors were a loose collection of disparate people with little other connection.
These students are old enough to speak for themselves. They already have a social structure in place. They already have associations of clubs and sports and general extra-curricular activities. They know each other, their families know each other. And many of them come from families just affluent enough to be able to support some short term and longer term efforts. Think soccer mom with a political bent.
With just a little luck, this could be the beginning of some movement on this issue.

Plus high-school kids have an amazing amount of energy. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this will lead to actual change.
