A memorial to the children gunned down in our schools? Yes, right on Congresss doorstep.

Is it time to put it in marble or granite? Maybe it should have some bronze, too.

Because all of us must remember the Americans killed at school, the children slaughtered pursuing their educations, the teachers and administrators gunned down trying to do one of the country’s most important jobs. So a memorial on the Mall in Washington — right on Congress’s doorstep and where so many other important sacrifices are invoked in our nation’s capital — would be perfect.

Days after 17 people were killed in a high school in Parkland, Fla., students are speaking out. They are angry and frightened. Vigils, marches and school walkouts are planned.
