MoveOn needs to plan mass protests for this as well:
'I think he should be pardoning anybody whos been indicted and make it clear that anybody else who gets indicted would be pardoned immediately,

(1,835 posts)He will just tell the base, who will eagerly lap it up, that Mueller is a big ole mean deep state bully and he is just standing up for America and apple pie!

Or are you just dismissing the report as nonsense?

(20,998 posts)...I also believe that, like it's "namesake," POLITICO prefers to seeks to elevate the trivial and accentuate the hyperbolic in order to sell add space.
As for this issue, I think the "reporting" is probably good... no small leap to imagine that friends and supporters of the Orange Anus* would urge him to use any trick up his sleeve to alleviate the prosecutorial damage.

(1,835 posts)It's just every time, like Friday, that I finally feel some hope about Trump, something like this story pops up and makes me feel hopeless. My thought process is like this: Trump will just pardon everyone, including himself; the media will be outraged for a day until he gives a speech that makes them like him again (same situation as Charlottesville followed by Harvey, say); the base will love him standing up to Mueller; Dems and Independents stay energized to vote in November but Putin just flips their votes over to the Trump/Ryan Cabal anyway and voter suppression is also in full force.
If I knew for a fact that November would be a free and fair election, I wouldn't be so disturbed by the pardons and would tell Trump to bring it on really, as it would be his downfall.
I am close to someone who feels that Trump's downfall can only be accomplished through the legal system; that the political system is too compromised. I hope they are wrong, especially in light of today's Politico story.

(50,279 posts)money laundering, etc., cannot be pardoned by the POTUS. I doubt Schneiderman would sit idly by if Trump started pardoning everyone charged by Mueller.
