High school shooting survivors plan trip to Tallahassee (on Tuesday, 02/20/18)

Last edited Mon Feb 19, 2018, 02:34 PM - Edit history (1)

On Tuesday, a group of 100 students, all from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, will head to Tallahassee to meet with state legislators and join in on a variety of meetings.

Stoneman Douglas student Jaclyn Corin organized the trip and says they’ll be splitting the students up into groups of 10 so they can have a voice in every meeting.

They’re hoping to change preexisting bills, specifically those focusing on the assault rifles.

All of the students are part of the “Never Again” movement. Corin described it as “a student led movement. It shows that we are mature enough. We will come at them and do whatever it takes to change the way our state runs and the nation.”- WTXL Midway, FL

If you live in the Tallahassee area and can spare some of your time tomorrow 02/20/18, come out and show your support for these young adults. I'm sure they'll appreciated it.

PENSACOLA, FL (RNN) - A private school in Florida is giving away two rifles as prizes in its annual golf tournament.

Trinitas Christian Academy in Pensacola is giving away a Browning A-BOLT III Stalker, a bolt-action rifle, and a Smith & Wesson M&P15 — a sporting rifle similar in design to the AR-15.

According to the Pensacola News Journal, the prizes are rubbing some parents the wrong way after last week’s mass shooting at Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland left 17 people dead.

The school announced the prizes in a post to its event page on Facebook on Jan. 29, weeks before the Parkland shooting brought the gun debate back into the spotlight.

We need to share their burden and encourage others like them to speak up now too, before there are more victims.

At least 12 incidents involving threats, weapons at schools since Florida shooting - Thx Ohno-really

If we can flip Florida, there is definitely hope for places like Texas.
