They justify it because it confirms their biases. The niggling details about the Trump family and its lack of affinity for the military doesn't bother them at all. It's only when someone goes against abject worship of all things military that they get pissed off, and look to tag them with "draft dodger" or similar moniker. When it's someone with indisputable military credentials criticizing the military (or being insufficiently obeisant), they'll attack with the same vigor. They just want to be sure to avoid calling, for example, John McCain a draft dodger. I have many things to say against Senator Maverick, but even I can't call him a draft dodger.
