Some degree of disagreement, debate, and discussion amongst us here at DU is healthy and positive

Here is a point I'd like to assert:

Not everyone who disagrees with you is a bot, a troll, or a disruptor out to create discord among Democrats

There are legitimate areas of disagreement among Democrats. One of the good things about this message board is that we are a group of smart, informed, politically-minded folks who support the overall values of the Democratic party and work to see Democratic candidates succeed.

With that in mind, there are still areas of dispute and debate - among Democrats - and discussions on the topics ought to be encouraged, not discouraged, on a message board like this.

Yes, there are likely some disruptive types who are not what they appear to be, but there are also thoughtful, well-meaning Democrats who just don't see eye-to-eye on every single issue. No one should be afraid of presenting their opinion here on such topics, as long as it does not violate any DU rules.

Let's all remember that this is a forum for discussion whose mission statement includes: "Participating in lively, thought-provoking discussions" as one of the fundamental pillars of the site.

Good thing no one is alleging all disagreements on DU stem from bots or trolls, then. Merely an undefined number of them...

On the other hand, consistency in what we post is a wonderfully accurate indicator in regards to our own narratives, regardless of what we allege to be.

In physics and engineering, Quality Factor, or Q, is a parameter that characterizes how long it takes energy in a resonant system to decay. A pendulum on a well oiled bearing has a high Q and swings for longer than a pendulum on a squeaky bearing which has a low Q.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Q_factor

DU is a high Q site. Once a topic such as The Indictment is introduced most posts are about the topic and it takes a long time for the topic to die. It's like a bell, which when struck once continues to ring.

The introduction of opposing views into the discussion, or even the introduction of competing topics, would likely bleed off energy, decreasing the "ringing time" of the site.
