This story is behind a pay-wall; I've edited as best I could to get the key stuff into the OP -- DonFebruary 19, 2018 at 9:24 am EST By Taegan Goddard
President Trump has shown an ability to withstand controversies that would sink other presidents. During the campaign, not even personal attacks on war hero John McCain or a video of him bragging about sexually assaulting women could derail him. Once in office, he could denounce Pope Francis or praise the white supremacists who marched in Charlottesville without repercussion.
But over the last week or so, Trump has completely lost control of the narrative. The Rob Porter abuse scandal dragged on for more than a week and highlighted his waning powers of distraction. The story was only supplanted by the tragic news of another mass shooting at a Florida school and the bombshell indictments unsealed by Robert Mueller against 13 Russians last Friday.
Trump was left to watch television over the weekend and lash out in a series of ever angrier tweets. From the outside, he was acting like a cornered animal.
What these three stories have in common is they are all much bigger than Trump. From the abuse of women by powerful men to out-of-control gun violence to an attack on our countrys elections, the majority of Americans are very angry. Trump offers no solutions. Its important that none of these stories are being pushed by Democrats. Though hes tried to pin the blame for some on President Obama, Democrats are mostly staying out of the way.

Seems we hear the same thing every couple weeks, that this is a tipping point. Nothing will happen unless the Dems can take the House this Fall and start investigating in earnest in 2019.
And the battle for the FBI and Law enforcement is the battle for the country, Trump wins that battle and he'll start jailing the opposiiton.
