Personally, I support every single gun in this country owned personally by a citizen

to be confiscated and melted down

Realistically, as a compromise I would be satisified that every gun that has a detachable magazine/cartridge be banned.

One can own a six shooter. A hand gun with a fixed mag with 5 bullet maximum. You can even have your AR 15 as long as it has no capacity to load new mags and the fixed mag holds no more than 3 bullets.

That's a compromise that gunners should be able to live with. I'd add no public toting, with few Hoyt Feb 2018 #2

exceptions.

Of course, I would prefer tougher restrictions, but not sure we want to see a bunch of sulking gunners cowering in their homes mourning the loss of weapons they -- and society -- never needed in the first place.

300,000,000-THREE HUNDRED MILLION guns in private hands in this country. All this theater about banning/melting/confiscation of guns on the streets and in the homes is fear driven dribble. That is one gun, approximately, for EVERY American man, woman and child. So I ask, besides a check on the mental health of owners and potential owners ..the Las Vegas shooter would have passed for obvious cultural reasons, what can be done?

It would take decades to rid this country of guns, just as it has taken decades to fill this country with guns. Of course the authorities can start today going door to door. Waco and any other armed confrontation between government and citizen that one can think of will increase exponentially.

Since the first creation of gunpowder by the Chinese, guns were inevitable. Just sad that irresponsible and challenged humans have them. Our wild west history and the remaining mentality from that era is something I have a feeling will never leave this culture. We are a mean, mean culture that used genocide and slavery to settle this country and many country's are the same. Until all weapons are shown to be unnecessary we will be plagued by war and slaughters such as Parkland and the sad murders oder children.

I agree that as a start, your suggestions would help.
