Following the mass shooting at a Florida school earlier this week, Americans have been sharing their thoughts on gun violence.
........................................................

Another thought was shared by Nathan W. Gabbard, an attorney in Los Angeles.

He used the analogy of abortion laws in America, which is a divisive topic in the country already, in relation to school shootings by proposing a simple name change.

His single tweet quickly went viral.

This is a good point, too. But beyond it being a tactical error, this tweet is crass as well. LuvLoogie Feb 2018 #6

against abortion for themselves out of reverence for the life growing inside them. This tweet ridicules that ethos, which in and of itself is a positive affirmation. It conflates that personal choice with the hypocrisy of Republican legislative disregard to the carnage.

This is not cool to me. A cheap, in the moment, utterance without enough thought before hitting send.

It equates a fetus with a child and abortion with murder, which is the prime argument of the anti-choice crowd.

Yes, the tweet throws that argument back in their face -- but it can also be turned around as conceding their main point about abortion.
