From the movie Hud. I didn't see it until it was on TV in about 1981, and I nearly fell of the couch when I heard that line. The most prescient line ever, and it still rings with authenticity all these years later.

Well not really my favorite but it is a very useful one theses days.

From Le Prince de Ligne :

"Soyez économes de votre mépris, il y a tant de nécessiteux"
"Save your disdain, there are so much needy"

I'm afraid not a very nice one.

Sadly, I don't think they have that particular one anymore.

I am on my third generation of COEXIST tshirts. I always get complimented on it when I wear it around. Something about a t-shirt gets a lot more attention and interaction than a bumper sticker.

"Fake it. That's a big thing with me. Many years ago I was riding on the Twentieth Century to Chicago. I was just a little girl. On the train was a wonderful entertainer by the name of Frisco. ... He had a bowler hat and the most exquisite shoes. He came and sat in the dining car for breakfast and cracked open his newspaper; he looked great. The waiter ... said, 'What will you have this morning?' To which Frisco answered, 'Ice cream and applesauce.' ... The waiter was very upset ... and said, 'we haven't got any ice cream or any applesauce.' 'Okay, fake it.' That made a tremendous impression on me."

On diversity: "I cannot consent to take the position that the door of hope — the door of opportunity — is to be shut upon any man, no matter how worthy, purely upon the grounds of race or color. Such an attitude would, according to my convictions, be fundamentally wrong."

“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”

― Theodore Roosevelt

It was once said that the moral test of government is how that government treats those who are in the dawn of life, the children; those who are in the twilight of life, the elderly; and those who are in the shadows of life, the sick, the needy and the handicapped
