It's a word seen frequently here on DU. It's always used disparingly; it hints at partnership in a crime or the horror that US politics has become.
Here's something you can do to mitigate your complicity. Stop using Facebook. Right fucking now. Sign out never to sign in again. It's a no-brainer. Zuckerberg needs to be punished for his role in the theft of the 2016 election. Find other ways to catch up with people, get you news from reliable sources. Stop being Zuckerberg's product. Stop being complicit in the undermining of the USA via social media.
And if you're going to post in this thread and whine that it doesn't apply to you - think again. You are an enabler.

(17,197 posts)Build the odd website, so need to test buttons etc. Never posted or added any personal info, but they persist in trying to shove shit down my throat.
Now they have put further 'security' measures in place which essentially means you turn over more of yourself, more personal information to Facebook, in the name of 'verifying' who you are.
Facebook is over. I've deleted my account. Not an easy thing to do but it's possible.

(15,265 posts)I post photos from my hiking trips etc. It alerts me on when family and friends birthdays are etc.
I'm no more likely to get conned or believe some propaganda online then I am in my daily life.
I don't listen or read rightwing news on the tv or radio or online. I can spot bullshitg when I see it and during the few years that I have had account I have only encountered one purveyor of rightwing bullshit and while I enjoyed shredding her fake news posts i ultimately unfollowed her.
