And the point is the Russians knew he was very interested -- and they exploited that interest.

Few US political commentators took his campaign seriously and many suggested he was only in it for the publicity.

I was watching an old Sat Night Live video of spoof of Ross Perot and other possible "independent" presidential candidates for that year and he was one of them. That is from 1992.

been all over on the record (print and video) saying he wanted to run going back to the 80s! I saw a video of him being interviewed in front of huge audience and Melania was there in a seat too. It was before they were married and he called to her to stand up and he told everyone to look at his supermodel fiancee. They asked her if she'd like to be the First Lady some day and she was sincerely very enthusiastic about it. He has changed his political affiliation 4 or 5 times in 16 years too. Even Jared and Ivanka were listed as Dems when I looked them up on Wikipedia after the 2016 election.
