It has been asked ""Why does Melania stay with Trump?" Well...

aside from not actually giving a good goddam about their personal situation, it may be interesting to look at past Presidential schtupping.

I guess it all started with Jefferson and Sally Hemmings, and then there were rumors of Lincoln and, ummm.. his "boys". Ike had something going during the war, and Harding's affairs became a national joke. LBJ was also notorious. None of their wives seem to have had problems with extracurricular activities.

But, the champion will always be good ol' Jack.

Here's an even dozen of them:

Note that Blaze Starr said he was a great lay, and after he dumped Gene Tierney, she voted for Nixon.

Oh, and Jackie...

Jackie was not in the dark about any of this, Flanagan says: She once gave a tour of the White House to a Paris Match reporter and, when passing Wear’s desk, remarked in French, “This is the girl who supposedly is sleeping with my husband.”

Alice Roosevelt Longworth—daughter of Theodore Roosevelt, and a cousin of Eleanor's—encouraged the affair, inviting Mercer and Franklin to dinner together several times. She later commented, "He deserved a good time. ... He was married to Eleanor."[11]

It's still not what I would call a good excuse for behaving like a slobbering gorilla on a testosterone high.
