I know individual Republicans who are good people but they seem to be the exception. The others, if they have a conscience, need to do some sober self reflection. They need to ask themselves who they are , who they want to be, and do they truly want to live in a nation as coarse and as rife with strife as the one they are creating.

(28,795 posts)So many of these people have become cultists, in an almost religious sense, and are IMPERVIOUS
to behaving in accordance with observable reality
The refuse to accept obvious truth any more
They believe in the MIRACULOUS infallibility Of T and everything his cult espouses and preaches
They appear beyond rational thought/behavior in this area
Hillary was never more correct when she labeled them as deplorable

(2,678 posts)decent human being my course of action would be to switch parties, but quickly! Being a lifelong, real Democrat, unlike the current 45th (se)lected president, I feel good about who I am and my party. I dont consider Trump as ever being a true Democrat and he sure as hell was never, ever a liberal!

(66 posts)It's the same mistake as believing there were "good germans" who were just following orders. One of the most maddening truths out there that even most liberals refuse to see, is that it is not republican politicians, lobbyists, russians or trump who is the problem. They are the manifestation of their voters. 33 - 47% of this nation is made up of the the absolute worst western civilization has ever produced.
Republican policies are becoming more authoritarian, uglier and murderous in their contempt for all others besides the white hetero christian male because that represents exactly the wants and desires of their voters. The "good republicans" wouldn't have been the nazis in the death camps. They would be the "good germans" who casually looked the other way while it happened.
