Exclusive: Group chat messages show school shooter obsessed with race, violence and guns

(CNN)In a private Instagram group chat, confessed school shooter Nikolas Cruz repeatedly espoused racist, homophobic and anti-Semitic views and displayed an obsession with violence and guns.

Racism was a constant theme in the chat group, which was called "Murica (American flag emoji) (eagle emoji) great" -- a name it was given by Cruz.

The hatred he and others in the group espoused met little resistance from its active members. In one part of the group chat, Cruz wrote that he hated, "jews, ni**ers, immigrants."

1. I wonder if the Russians have also found their way into extremists' online groups?

They could be flooding these groups with hate messages and encouraging violence. I can see where that would be accepted in those types of groups that lean toward conspiracies anyway. The extremist groups have exploded and once they get a decent sized group going, you can just imagine how the hate can spread quickly. This seems to be true particularly in the last few years. I'm sure Obama becoming POTUS was part of it because of the racist angle, but the intense hatred in these factions seems to have grown faster than normal. But, then, what has been normal in the last decade or so? Just thinkin'.
