11. It is war and the other side is winning

For at least a decade I’ve been hearing that cyberwarfare is how the next Great War will begin.

And I think it’s not just the brainwashing of low information voters in America, not just the likely manipulation of vote counts, but iirc we know Russian hackers have infiltrated key infrastructure systems. I wonder if Russian cyber warriors brought down the reservation and flight systems of our major airlines recently. Or, worse, if cyber warriors we’re responsible for the days apart erroneous government warnings of incoming missiles in both Hawaii and Japan. Russian cyber warriors flexing their muscles?

It’s not just happening in the US. Think of the surprises with Brexit and the rise of right-wing parties across Europe. No, we are at war, in a world war, stuck with a weaponized plant for a President and a probably complicit Republican Congress. It’s not a hot war ... yet. But hold on to your hats, that may be coming, too.

change leadership.

Fact is, Ruskies caught us flatfooted. We should have been prepared to block any hacking attempt and spreading of lies, etc., and adept at responding to obvious lies and propaganda. We weren't -- that's on us.

Cyber war is here and we better learn to deal with it, or all our tanks and bombs won't save us.

around in some state enrollment systems, posted lies and stuff, etc. But the only people I've seen who claimed they were denied voting rights were at the wrong polling place, had not voted in many years, did not check their registration, were not helped by local political organization, etc.

The conspiracy theories, etc., and failure to acknowledge we got beat is astounding to me. We sound like a bunch of athletes claiming the game was stolen from us.

Russian will continue with thier soft revolution
Seems to be working on many in the US . Why waste
military when it's going so well and trump et all is already on thier side .
So much winning they have provided here

On Capitol Hill, lawmakers criticized Mr. Trump for not imposing additional sanctions on Russia as envisioned in the legislation passed over his objections by veto-proof bipartisan majorities in both houses last August.

“It is a grave breach of President Trump’s responsibilities to reward President Putin by inaction for his intervention in an American election — it represents nothing less than appeasement for an attack on our country’s democracy,” said Representative Adam Smith of Washington State, the ranking Democrat on the House Armed Services Committee. “It is time for us time to stand up for our country. We cannot let these actions to continue to go unpunished.”

They've attacked us , but with cyber weapons. Using them right now against us while trump and the gop enable them more to weaken our systems, and institutions.

Russia and bin laden always wanted us to spend ourselves into ruin with our old fashioned military spending. We spend on expensive defense machines while our enemy spends on cheap cyber offense. Our republican leaders are idiots.

fought.

This 'war' will almost certainly be resolved in the US' favor. The only one in Russia really invested in it is Putin. An unfavorable election or deteriorating health on his part and it's over.

No one in Russia besides Putin really benefits. Putin's main benefit is that it distracts his people from his failing leadership.
