"The IRA trolls primary directive was to communicate derogatory information about Hillary Clinton and to denigrate other candidates such as Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio, and to support Bernie Sanders and then-candidate Donald Trump, the indictment says.
One instruction from the IRA told the trolls to use any opportunity to criticize Hillary and the rest (except Sanders and Trump we support them), according to the indictment. One IRA-controlled Facebook page, called Secured Borders, even drew flak during an internal IRA review for having a low number of posts dedicated to criticizing Hillary Clinton."

I wouldn't be surprised if it comes out that at least some of the very vocal anti-Hillary pro-Sanders people who were here during the primaries were Russian backed trolls. Either witting or unwitting.
JPR is probably just a Russian front.

The claims of poll-rigging date back to just after 2004, and that's not a firm limit. It's just when I first saw them here because that's when I joined.
Once the idea that any defeat must be the result of poll-rigging, the suspicion that your candidate will be defeated by the all-powerful PTB because of poll-rigging becomes a kind of safety valve to temper hope and alleviate that nagging feeling that if you lose it's because you're not actually in the majority. And then if you do lose, well, there's the excuse, just as predicted.
It's the distrust that's the initial problem that can be exploited, and furthering the distrust exploiting the problem is the goal.

(51,170 posts)Would love to have a counter on a profile to track if they might be. If something suggests they might be an interloper I might give them some slack. But if they did it several times I won't remember. A counter of some sort would help a lot.

(7,286 posts)What if Bernie had won the nomination? What would the Russians have done then?
What would have happened to DU then?
And what would have happened to DU, now, today, with allegations that Russia backed his campaign?
Naval gazing questions I know, but for future elections perhaps important
