The part that involves the Trump campaign is probably ongoing and kept well under wraps. Keep in mind that the Russians didn't pretend to be Americans when they met with high lvl Trump campaign individuals, like Flynn, Don Junior, and others, and those guys obviously knew who they were meeting with and why. So nothing unwitting about that.
