Not all, but a good amount. If you have a job and your parents pay for stuff, it's not that hard to pocket that much pretty quickly.

BUT, I would venture to say it's probably stolen.

Supposedly, the suspect lived in one of the rich communities there.

Drug dealers are cash intensive and always have ample access to those kinds of purchases...maybe he was not though, like I said just a guess. No matter how, the fact remains he did get one and the damage was wrought in his wake...

The cheapest is to just buy the lower receiver for $100, the only part with a serial number and background check requirement. After that it's $60 for a kit to load the mechanical guts and all the rest of the gun can be bought online at low cost.

We as a society are efficient with distributing our preferred tools of mass murder to any bloodthirsty hand.

You can get a decent reliable AR for $500 these days, but you can also drop $2000 on a high end model.

One of my coworkers went to that HS and still lives in Parkland, another one lives their with her family (her kids were in the shooting today). Both are upper middle class. Parkland kids have money.

They pay for their car insurance. They pay for their cell phones. They buy new cell phones.

They have trouble with big data plans, but $1000 for a phone? They save up for a couple of months. Necessities are provided. They don't date.

Or it may have been a present. Or maybe he was given money for a special occasion, Xmas or his birthday.
