At least he said something now, and not wait a week to say, "Spousal abuse is bad." LastLiberal in PalmSprings Feb 2018 #3

Prayers and condolences don't bring back a kid from the dead. Every idiot does not need to own a weapon. It's easier to possess an arsenal than it is to vote. The many are being held hostage by the few. The NRA is a terrorist organization. And nothing will change. 24 hours of news, a couple of updates, then back to the latest tweet storm until the next mass shooting. Just a few brain droppings without coherent thought.

And of the latter, here's all he had to say:

"I'm totally opposed to domestic violence. And everybody here knows that. I'm totally opposed to domestic violence of any kind. Everyone knows that. And it almost wouldn't even have to be said. So, now you hear it, but you all know."

The underlined part of the statement is the only thing he said that was relevant to the issue. Everything else was either a repetition of that statement or something he said defensively. "Everybody knows that" (said twice), "wouldn't even have to be said," "but you all know," are all defensive statements.

Basically, what he said was the bare minimum that he could say. I expect that the first sentence was prepared by his staff, and everything else was added on the fly and reveals his true state of mind, like when he added "good people on many sides" to his initial statement about the Nazi march. Remember, he was forced to make a staff-written statement afterwards, but it was only a few days later he went off-script and let everyone know how he really felt about it.

Likewise, I'm expecting there to be some sort of off-script statement or tweet that will show how he really feels.

Personally, I suspect he has been a domestic abuser in one or all of his past marriages, if not physical then at least mental. It would fit how he lives the rest of his life -- lying, bullying, cheating. It would be interesting if either of his past wives stepped forward to rebut his statement.
