What does matter, IMHO, is how he behaved as a general. I think it's time for a deep dive into his career, places, served, decisions made, corners cut, abusers and criminals overlooked, etc.

......In 1999, Colonel Kelly transferred to joint duty and served as the Special Assistant to the Supreme Allied Commander, Europe, in Mons, Belgium. He returned to the United States in 2001, and was assigned to a third tour of duty at Camp Lejeune, now as the Assistant Chief of Staff G-3 with the 2nd Marine Division. In 2002, selected to the rank of Brigadier General, Colonel Kelly again served with the 1st Marine Division, this time as the Assistant Division Commander. Much of Brigadier General Kelly's two-year assignment was spent deployed in Iraq. He then returned to Headquarters Marine Corps as the Legislative Assistant to the Commandant from 2004 to 2007. Promoted to major general, he returned to Camp Pendleton as the Commanding General, I Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward). The command deployed to Iraq in early 2008 for a year-long mission, replacing II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward) as Multinational Force-West in Al Anbar and western Ninewa provinces. LtGen Kelly commanded Marine Forces Reserve and Marine Forces North from October 2009 to March 2011.......

General Kelly’s aggressive oversight of the illegal military prison at Guantánamo Bay disqualifies him to head the Department of Homeland Security. Presiding over a population of detainees not charged or convicted of crimes, over whom he had maximum custodial control, Kelly treated them with brutality. His response to the detainees’ peaceful hunger strike in 2013 was punitive force-feeding, solitary confinement, and rubber bullets. Furthermore, he sabotaged efforts by the Obama administration to resettle detainees, consistently undermining the will of his commander in chief. His temperament and actions make him unfit to lead an agency that currently holds tens of thousands of immigrants, including many fleeing violence and many in long-term indefinite detention.

Just watching his public evolution in the WH it looks like any mask has been ripped away to reveal what a horrible person he is deep inside.

Looking at the Generals that Trump has surrounded himself really makes me wonder about the quality of men/women in the upper echelon of the US military. It leaves me wondering how many of them would actually be willing to draw a line in the sand to actually protect this country from domestic enemies including Trump, his minions and the Republican leadership of Congress.

specifically the amount of people that were dismissed from the military under his leadership for bringing charges of sexual assault. My bet is it will be high. It is definitely a thing in the military.

Everything and everyone Twitler touches turns to shit. He brings out the very worst in everybody. If your morality is based on a superficial desire to follow the rules and avoid punishment being around someone who is as blatently, happily immoral as Twitler and is your boss removes all motivation to do the right thing. You're not going to be punished for giving into your most base desires. You might actually be praised especially if you don't get caught. Think about how many times you were told how bad you would feel if you did the wrong thing then look at Twitler. It doesn't bother him a bit. It's actually a source of pride for him. He brags about it All. The. Time. Do the right thing around him and all you're going to get is ridiculed and called a sucker.

for most of his career, at least until he started supervising Guantanamo. His true colors - an eager hater of immigrants - really started to show when he was no longer in the military and was appointed to DHS. Once he started working directly for Trump as CoS he became a Trump true believer and whatever honor or sense of ethics he might have once possessed got swallowed up and drowned in the moral cesspool of Trump's White House.

about Trump being a ‘never admit you are wrong’ type of person and that’s how people around him are also behaving, like with Kelly’s comments about Wilson.
