I was a child who needed such a free lunch. Except they didn't yet offer them where I lived, in Chicago. So I just survived somehow on the bare minimum.

All morning long, I studied mostly one thing: Reading the time on the classroom clock (Now it's only one hour and twenty minutes until I get to eat my mayonnaise sandwich....now it's only one hour and ten minutes until I get to eat my mayonnaise sandwich...).

Incidentally, my mother also worked full time. Women were assumed to be working only for pin money, so they were paid much less for the same work.

I am so grateful for free school lunch programs.

in full:

I did not mean that Conservatives are generally stupid; I meant, that stupid persons are generally Conservative. I believe that to be so obvious and undeniable a fact that I hardly think any hon. Gentleman will question it.

In a Parliamentary debate with the Conservative MP, John Pakington (May 31, 1866). Hansard, vol 183, col 1592. Pakington was referring to Footnote 3 to Chapter 7 of Mill's "Considerations on Representative Government".

I always point that out to the people who say there is no difference between the parties.

What the white supremacists have wrought in being enablers of total evil in people who are being encouraged to hate.
