(15,286 posts)It doesn't necessarily follow that Dems will lose that advantage in the mid-terms, that GOP turnout will improve or that Rs who do turn out will vote for their party's nominee.
The FL special election seemed to be pretty high profile. The GOP tried to rally the troops and couldn't. What this tells me is that while Trump's base still loves him, they aren't enough by themselves to win.

(297,275 posts)Silver constantly emphasized Trump had a substantial chance to win. His model was around 30%. Cohn only gave Trump 5-15%.

(11,802 posts)It's gonna be hard to sustain enthusiasm once the GOP stops attacking Medicare, Medicaid, social security, dreamers, blacks, women, etc. But considering that won't happen until never, I think we'll be okay.
