Bannon: distract by flooding [media] with sh*t (like porn stars)

“The real opposition is the media. And the way to deal with them is to flood the zone with shit.”

https://www.sltrib.com/opinion/commentary/2018/02/09/michael-lewis-looking-for-trump-in-all-the-wrong-places/

-------------------------------------

Today, we're talking about personal money and porn stars and what exact day Kelly knew that Rob Porter was a wife-beating asshole (months ago, who cares when).

The real news is that Putin told the Palestinians that HE speaks for the US president, who he presumably has in his pocket.

And that five of the top US Intel chiefs said today in a SENATE HEARING that Russia is attacking us right now and will do so again in 2018. And we are doing nothing to stop them.

(And also that the GOP is a party of billionaires that is currently looting the US treasury before their 'president' is removed from office)

-----------------

Forget about the salacious stories of consensual sex.

Let's talk about the fact that the United States is currently being attacked by hostile powers, one of which appears to be in the Oval Office itself.

And why should I care at all about what Bannon thinks?

The tv media is kept running around reporting on the very latest distraction. Only some of the online and print media are able to deal with deeper, long-lasting damage by this regime.

From the article:

The questions are not like my questions. They address only what’s happened in the last few hours: Trump’s attempt to intimidate FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, the latest twist on the Russia investigation, another school shooting, a rumor that the first official state dinner will be with France. To me, it seems that the interesting questions are not the questions of the moment, but the questions of the moment are the only questions that would not sound completely bizarre in this place. The point of the exercise for [Sarah Huckabee] Sanders seems to be to pretend to interact honestly with the press without actually doing so — and also, where she can, to torture the journalists.

If everybody focuses on fleeting, sensational tweets and the the latest bizarre act of TrumPutin, the consequences of the multitude of damaging acts by this cohort of crooks will be greater and will come as a surprise to the general public.

If I somehow managed to hear about the other events. That was my point. In fact, I heard about them before I heard about the lawyer admitting he paid off the porn star.

Your point is a good one.

The country, very approximately, is:
5-10% racist deplorables
20% propagandized Fox watchers
25% unengaged non-news types
50% angry Democrats and liberals

The KEY is that 25% who are not very engaged. THAT is who we need to reach. Because if they are on our side the president is impeached tomorrow. That is who the GOP is trying to distract with pornstar BS while they pick their pockets.

How do we reach that 25%? If the media was saying “Russian attack on America” every single day and repeating it, that would reach the 25%. That’s why the likes of Bannon are flooding the zone with shit.

How can we at DU help? If WE are focused on the important issues we can help the nation focus on the important issues. So that’s why I think we should note the zone-flooding shit, but focus on what really matter: Attacks on America by oligarchs, whether Russian or American oligarchs.

".....May I prescribe medication and rehab for your politically polluted brain.

1. Limit your exposure to the daily bullshit distractions. Max exposure, 1 hr in the AM and 1 hr PM. Did you used to read the Nat'l Enquirer all day? NO, AM i right?

Let us not devolve, as tempting and juicy as the distractions may sound. It is a coup to harm your brain. Find, support, and/or report important news, not Junior High-like, endorphin-damaging garbage gossip

When we perpetuate the political gossip garbage being served up every freaking day, we are perpetuating the harm it does, true?

I have started to limit myself to THEFERRET for a fun garbage gossip update. Laughter is healthy.

2. Take time each day to uplift your spirit or, at the very least, tune out. Be kind. Help uplift others. Meditation really helps......"

Trump is president. That insane fact would never have been possible without Steve Bannon.

And I kind of agree with him, or at least what I think is his conclusion. In the last week Dotard Donnie has suggested we sell the International Space Station, replace food stamps with mail order freeze dried food, and pay for the trillion-dollars-to-billionaires plan by gutting Medicare. Too many of us are too concerned with if/when Trump banged a hooker twelve years ago.

Just my humble opinion.
