Acosta tweeted this an hour ago. Looks like a real circular firing squad at the WH:

WH official says WH Counsel Don McGahn has simply not shared enough information about Porter matter with top officials including Kelly. McGahn knew there were issues with Porter's background in July, official said. He's never had to answer that question.

It shouldn't have to be asked.

Don is in a most precarious pickle
The New York Times reported on Thursday that President Donald Trump attempted to fire special counsel Robert Mueller in June but was stopped by White House Counsel Donald F. McGahn II. According to the bombshell story, sourced to four people told of the matter, McGahn threatened to resign rather than carry out an order from the president firing Mueller.
Amid the first wave of news media reports that Mr. Mueller was examining a possible obstruction case, the president began to argue that Mr. Mueller had three conflicts of interest that disqualified him from overseeing the investigation, the Times reported.

(22,130 posts)6. Don't get me wrong, but it sounds like we got the WH on the run now...
tRUMP can't keep up w/ the daily twitter salvos being that he and his administration are playing defense everywhere! Keep up the work/effects to deny any WH effectiveness in ALL areas. They haven't reached out to us, so why should we work or cooperate w/ them?

Why does the FBI refuse to authorize security clearance for people like Porter?
It means that investigatorsfor over a full yearcould not conclude that he was eligible, from a security standpoint, under national security standards for access to classified information.
In Porters case, the fact that he was hiding egregious problems, including a history of violence and a temporary restraining order against him, is probably why the FBI did not grant him a permanent clearance.
They were not confident in his ability to handle classified information responsibly because he was highly vulnerable to foreign intelligence agencies recruitment.
So, what part of hiding personal problems (which put you in a comprising situation), Porter...should McGahn have known about? - If McGahn KNEW about this situation..then, yes, indeed, he needs to go!!!

forced to dump Rob Porter who was likely the biggest brain of the entire White House inner circle.
