The service was put on entirely by the youth wing. One of the girls who was participating was about 16. She came in full Goth regalia - bleck trench coat, black jeans, black Docs, and of course black hair, makeup, lipstick and nail polish. As she was standing waiting to do her bit, her trench coat fell open to reveal a black T shirt. On it, written in bold white Gothic script, it said,

"Fuck you, you fucking fuck"

Nobody in the congregation even batted an eye. I gave her a big grin, and she gave me a full Gothic glower in return. Everyone knew she was just acting out, and that it was a phase that would pass. So nobody got bent. Canadian Unitarians are a very chill bunch of people.

They're SO trying to figure out who they are and how to make a path for themselves and it makes them crazy. They need kind adults to let them figure it out.

I used to wear it around the house. One day we decided to go out to eat and I forgot to change shirts before leaving. It was only after we were seated and our order had been taken that my wife pointed out I was still wearing that shirt. I had to go to the bathroom and flip it inside out. Very embarrassing!

A shirt saying Fuck anyone should not be worn in public. I appreciate there is probably a constitutional right to wear the shirt in public but there is no right to do so in my place of business.

Trump is coarsening America. We should not help him. How about these instead?

I share the guy's sentiments, but he's not winning any hearts or minds with that one.

I'm certainly not saying he doesn't have the right to wear the shirt in public, but if I owned a business that was frequented by the general public, I would tell him to cover it or leave.

And then politely invite him to leave my establishment.

He has the right to wear it in public, but not on my private property.

He wouldn't need to pay for his meal, and he'd be getting free dessert.
